NIT Calicut inaugurated "Shobhindran Thanaloram Project" organized by NSS units of Providence Women's College
The NSS units of Providence Women's College have initiated the "Shobhindran Thanaloram Project," planting fruit tree saplings to create green spaces in public areas. The project was inaugurated at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut where 4,000 saplings were planted as part of the larger goal to plant 10,000 fruit trees in various public institutions.
The inaugural ceremony was officiated by Dr. R.N. Anzer, State NSS Officer, with Dr. Prasad Krishna, Director NITC, presided over the event. Dr. Sr. Ashmitha, Principal of Providence Women's College, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the ecological significance of the initiative. NITC Registrar Dr. Shyamasundara M.S., NSS Program Officers Dr. Sangeeta G. Kaimal and Dr. Archana E.R., and Shri Iqbal, Convener of the Green Clean Kerala Mission delivered the significance of green initiatives in the barren lands. The project honors the legacy of Shri Sobhindran, the renowned environmentalist and aims to enhance green cover thereby reinforcing the importance of sustainable environmental practices.
