Overview

At present, there are fourteen faculties are associated with the Department of Physics. Our research theme includes experimental, theoretical as well as computational aspects of fundamental as well as applied aspects of Physics. Please visit Research page for more details. Motivated candidates having Masters in Physics/relevant subjects with GATE or other NET qualifications are eligible for this programme. The selected students are required to take course work (minimum five courses) and should clear the comprihensive viva in the 4th semester. The scholars are required to publish at least two peer reviewed research papers in reputed international journals (SCI/Scopus indexed), and present their results in reputed conferences.

Selection Process

We conduct two rounds of selection process every year (in July and December). Please visit our institute website for more details. Selection process comprises of written test followed by an interview. Applicants are required to submit a project proposal along with the application. Number of intake depends on the vacancy available with the guides. Provisionally selected candidates are encouraged to meet faculty members to choose their area of research.
