International Seminar: ''Clean Energy for Sustainable Environment'' on 01st January 2024

 

An international seminar titled ‘Clean Energy for Sustainable Environment’ was conducted by the centre on 01st January 2024 to address the pressing issues of climate change and carbon dioxide emissions and the need for a sustainable environment.

The distinguished keynote speaker, Professor Shuichi Torii from Kumamoto University, Japan, led a session focusing on renewable energy and the technological advancements essential for combating climate change. Professor Torii emphasized the urgency of addressing global warming, the greenhouse effect, and the escalating carbon dioxide emissions. He underscored that governments worldwide are increasingly interested in bioenergy production as a crucial step in mitigating the impacts of climate change and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

The seminar featured other distinguished speakers who presented research papers on diverse topics related to clean energy. Dr. Pradeepkumar Ashok, Senior Research Scientist from The University of Texas at Austin, discussed the potential of geothermal energy in India. Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Calicut, shared insights on "Hydrogen for Future Energy Applications." Professor Sajith V, from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, NIT Calicut, addressed the use of "Phase Change Materials for Thermal Management." Dr. Ajith Gopi, Additional Chief Technical Manager ANERT discussed the current "Renewable Energy Scenario in Kerala."
