Optimizing Literature review with Web of Science

The Central library, NIT Calicut conducted a training session titled “Optimizing Literature review with Web of Science" by Jaswanth Jenny P. Solution Consultant, from Clarivate company. The Web of Science serves as a citation database offering access to numerous databases containing reference and citation data from academic journals, conference proceedings, and diverse academic documents. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the session ran from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm. A total of 73 participants, comprising faculty members, research scholars, and M.Tech students, actively engaged in the session. The session encompassed a range of topics, delving into the intricacies of Web of Science and its diverse searching features. Participants gained insights into techniques such as truncations, Boolean operators, refining options, citation analysis, alerting services, and data exporting in different formats. Furthermore, attendees learned how to interpret analysis results effectively, presented in formats such as tables and diagrams, and grasped the significance of journal ranking, including an exploration of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and methods for identifying listed and delisted journals within Web of Science. Additionally, explained how the Journals are listed in Web of Science, also demonstrate effective utilization of Endnote Online and Endnote Desktop. Moreover, NITC Central Library announced a few more sessions will be conducted by NITC Central Library in the upcoming days for supporting Research Activities.
