NITC repeats outstanding achievement in NBA Accreditation

Five M Tech programmes of NITC receive Accreditation for 6 years

Five M Tech Programmes offered by the National Institute of Technology Calicut have been accorded the maximum accreditation status by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The M. Tech Programmes- Electronics Design & Technology, Power Systems, Thermal Sciences, Signal Processing, and Structural Engineering, received accreditation for 6 years, which is the maximum possible duration of accreditation by the NBA.

The present result of NIT Calicut is based on the recent inspection visit of the expert committee. The committee accorded accreditation after evaluating all aspects of the academic programmes.

“Our students and faculty members have been making commendable achievements in the field of research and education resulting in collaborations and memorandums of understanding. The comprehensive efforts by the NITC community have helped us reach higher levels of competence,” said Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut.

As this evaluation aligns with the standards set by the Washington Accord, a global consortium comprising accreditation bodies from 22 countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and India, this achievement will help our students to secure admissions in top universities of the world for higher studies and get employment in leading Multinational Companies (MNCs), said Prof. Prasad Krishna.

The Institute had prepared for the accreditation process forming a team led by Dr. S. M. Sameer, Former Dean (Academic) and Prof. P.S. Sathidevi, Chairperson, Centre for Quality Assurance and Enhancement.

The Chairperson (CQAE) observed that all the stakeholders worked in tandem to fulfil the quality benchmarks and hence they deserve our due appreciation.

The present result of NIT Calicut is based on the visit of two expert committees composed of senior professors from top Institutions in the country during October and November 2023. It is noteworthy that NIT Calicut has secured the maximum accreditation status of 6 years for 13 programmes (Undergraduate and Postgraduate) during the past year.

Prof. A V Babu, Dean (Academic), highlighted the commitment of the Institution to curriculum revision and syllabus updates, ensuring students are equipped with industry-relevant skills and entrepreneurial acumen. Moreover, the emphasis on quality teaching by faculty members has sharpened students' academic and research capabilities.

The achievement was the result of joint work by the Director, Deans, Registrar, Heads of the Departments, Faculty, Non-Teaching Staff, Alumni and Students of all the Departments, Centres and Sections, who worked as a team for this remarkable achievement.

Established in January 2010, the NBA emerged as an autonomous body to ensure quality and relevance in technical education. Specifically, it focuses on programs within professional and technical disciplines such as Engineering and Technology, Management, Architecture, Pharmacy, Hotel Management and Catering Technology. The NBA operates through a program accreditation mechanism, evaluating technical institutions based on established norms.
