NIT Calicut observes National Voters Day with Pledge-taking Ceremony

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) observed National Voters Day with a solemn pledge-taking ceremony, emphasizing the institute's commitment to promoting democratic values and civic responsibilities. The event, held on January 25, 2024, witnessed active participation from the academic community, including students, faculty, and administrative staff.

The ceremony commenced with Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, leading the pledge-taking ceremony for the administrative office staff. Heads of various Departments and chairpersons of Centers within the institute also played a pivotal role in administering the voters' day oath. This collective effort aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness regarding the democratic process among the participants.

The pledge emphasized the significance of responsible voting and rekindled the commitment of all participants to actively engage in the democratic process. Students and faculty members, alongside administrative staff, reaffirmed their dedication to upholding the values of democracy through their participation in the ceremony.

To ensure widespread participation, various departments organized separate events at their respective locations. This decentralized approach allowed each department to tailor the ceremony to its unique academic environment, involving students, faculty, and staff members in the pledge-taking process.

The overarching goal of this initiative was to raise awareness about the crucial role that voting plays in a democratic society. By actively involving the academic community in the National Voters Day celebrations, NIT Calicut sought to inspire a sense of civic duty and responsibility, fostering a culture of active and informed citizenship among its members.
