Expert from UTEP visits NIT Calicut

The Centre for International Relations, National Institute of Calicut organised an Interactive session on the scope of higher education in the USA. The session led by Dr. Vivek Tandon, Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso gave incites into the scope and challenges of graduate, post-graduate and doctoral programmes in the USA.

Dr. Vivek Tandon and the faculty members of NIT Calicut discussed the scope of Collaborative Research and Networking Opportunities with the University of Texas El Paso (UTE)). A presentation on different bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes offered by UTEP was made by Prof. Vivek Tandon.

Dr. Tandon explained the academic programmes at the universities, the facilities for international students and the challenges they face. Dual master programmes and international dual degree programmes available at UTEP were also explained by Prof. Tandon.

Speaking to the students and faculty members, he also stressed the importance of faculty-led collaborative programmes. According to him, collaborations are fostered with commitment. However, MoUs are essential to ease student exchange and another initiative between universities, he added.

Students and faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering and other departments participated in the interaction programme, held at the Senate Hall. Prof. M K Ravi Varma, Chairperson, Centre for International Relations also spoke, Dr. M. V. L. R. Anjaneyulu,Professor, Civil Engineering Department presented a memento to Prof. Tandon.
