Delegates from Embassy of France in India visit NIT Calicut

They discussed the scope of higher education and research in France

A team of delegates from French embassy in India visited National Institute of Technology Calicut on Monday and attended an interactive session on ‘Higher Studies and Research Opportunities in France with Campus France’. The team discussed the scope of higher education in France and the chances for Indian students for studies and research activities in France.

The team comprised four members, Mr. François-Xavier Mortreuil, Attaché for Scientific and Academic Cooperation at the Embassy of France in India, Ms. Lucille Guillet, Science and Academic Cooperation Officer, Embassy of France in India, Dr. Oindrila DE, Scientific Affairs Officer, Embassy of France in India and Mr. Sabari Kishor, Manager Campus France at the Embassy of France in India. 

Mr. Francois- Xavier Mortreuil detailed the Scientific, Academic and Technology Corporation (CUST) between France and India. He explained the scope of higher education, research and innovation, science translation, tool support and other aspects for the students and faculty members who participated in the round-table conference.

The delegates from the Embassy of France in India insisted that the students from India should maintain good academic grades and prepare good applications to get admission in French Universities. Over 1700 programmes, aimed at international students are taught completely in English to help foreign students and hence studying in France will not be a tough task for Indian students, said the delegates during their interaction with the students of NITC. They also discussed student mobility programmes and research and innovation services. 

The programme was organised by International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO)-Centre for International Relations & Foreign Languages (CIRFL) at the National Institute of Technology Calicut. Interaction with the delegates was held at the Senate Hall. Dr. M. K. Ravi Varma, Chairperson, Centre for International Relations & Foreign Languages, explained the initiatives by NITC for collaboration with France.

 Prof. J. Sudhakumar, Director-in-Charge and Dean (Faculty Welfare) presented mementos to the the delegates. NITC, Dr. Shamasundara M S, Registrar of NITC, Dr. S. M. Sameer, Dean (Academic), Dr. N Sandhyarani, Dean (Research and Consultancy), Dr. Rajanikant G. K., Dean (Students' Welfare), Dr. P P Anil Kumar, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations) and others also attended the session.
