The Centre for Digital Infrastructure and Automation (CDIA) has been established by consolidating the functions and responsibilities of the Central Computer Centre (CCC), Campus Networking Centre (CNC), Institute Management System (IMS), High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities, and CITRA, with the objective of providing a unified framework for planning, managing, and strengthening the Institute's digital infrastructure and services.
At present, the Centre is entrusted with the management of the Institute Management System (IMS), centralized server infrastructure (both physical and virtualized environments), High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, institutional web services, and the development, deployment, and maintenance of several mission-critical web-based applications, including the Recruitment, Admission, Purchase, Stock Management, File Tracking, and Thesis Management portals. The Centre also administers and maintains the Institute's computer laboratories. In addition, the integration of cloud-based HPC resources through C-DAC is currently in progress, which will significantly enhance the Institute's computational and research capabilities.
The Centre is also responsible for managing the Institute's campus-wide networking infrastructure, including the LAN/WAN architecture, fibre-optic backbone, core switching systems, firewall administration and security policies, VPN services, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and CCTV surveillance systems. It ensures uninterrupted network availability, cybersecurity, bandwidth optimization, access control, and continuous monitoring of network performance and security incidents.
Furthermore, the CDIA technical team is actively engaged in the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of several in-house software applications and digital automation solutions that support the Institute's academic, administrative, and governance processes. The Centre also has significant potential to generate Internal Revenue Generation (IRG) and consultancy opportunities through specialized technical services, software development, digital infrastructure solutions, cybersecurity services, and High Performance Computing facilities.
