BIODATA:

Dr. Ronald Scaria works in the field of experimental astroparticle physics. After completing his master's at Central University of Kerala, he pursued his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. During his PhD, he worked on the GRAPES-3 experiment (an Indo-Japanese collaboration) in Ooty. After that, he joined the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne as a postdoc, where he is currently working. He is currently doing simulation studies for a detector that is being developed as a Swiss-French collaborative project.

ABSTRACT:

In this talk, he will give a brief introduction into the main questions of interest in cosmic rays (CRs) and how to detect them. He will introduce the experiments he works with and some interesting results. He will also try to give an introduction to how physics at the LHC is important for understanding observations in CR experiments.
