Swachhata Hi Seva 2024
NIT Calicut successfully concluded its Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, the nationwide initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness. The institute organised a series of events and initiatives over the last few weeks, starting 14th September and culminating in the Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrations on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Professor Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, inaugurated the campaign and administered a Swachhta Pledge to the institute community, including students, faculty, and staff. The campaign, observed from September 14 to October 1 under the theme "Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swachhata" focused on fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Various activities were undertaken during the campaign, such as weed and plastic waste removal, awareness drives, and collaborative efforts between NITC Community, NCC, NSS, faculty and staff. Under the 'Green Campus Initiative, NCC, NSS and the Sanitation/Horticulture staff joined forces to clear weeds from the Residential Campus on 27 September. On 28 September, a health check-up and hygiene awareness seminar was organized for Sanitation Workers by the Health Centre of NITC.
