Received Ph D from M. G. University, Kottayam , Kerala state, India, with thesis based on transport characteristics of polymer membranes. Possesses experience, in academia and
industries in teaching, research and administrative positions.
Current research interests include synthesis and characterisation of pi-conjugated polymer systems, nano materials, polymer blends for biomedical applications, natural fibre reinforced composites, transport phenomena, polymer membranes, novel catalysts for organic reactions and materials for physical medicine & rehabilitation.
Supervised 20 Ph.Ds (two awaiting defence). Nine Ph D scholars currently work in the group. Authored 189 technical articles (82 peer reviewed journals; 107 conferences). Completed 12 research projects funded by MHRD, DST, STEC, CSIR, British Council etc. Two patents , based on pi conjugated polymers and functionalised rubber blends have been filed. Two inner liners for CTEV orthosis and Knight Taylor's Brace have been developed in association with Calicut Medical College, Kerala. Received Young Scientist Award (Indian Science Congress Association), Prof. Sankarlal Memorial National Seminar
Award (IIT Kharagpur), Best Performer Award (NIT Calicut) etc.
Was a visiting researcher at the Department of Chemistry, University of Leeds, UK. Had
combined research programmes with Lunghwa University, Taiwan. Has collaborative programmes with different universities and institutes.
Currently, the Dean (Students’ Welfare) of NIT Calicut. Served as Professor in charge of PG and doctoral programmes of NIT Calicut, Head of Department of Science and Humanities, Head of Department of Chemistry and Chief Warden. Founder Secretary of the Calicut Chapter of Society for Polymer Science (India) . Was the faculty-in- charge of Social Engineering Forum, the vibrant technical platform connecting NIT Calicut with public. Is a consultant for polymer products’ and lubricants’ development.
