NIT Calicut inks MoU with Bosch to launch M.Tech programme in Electric Vehicle Engineering

 

NIT Calicut jointly with Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW) sets a new trend in IndustryAcademia Collaboration by introducing a new M.Tech Programme on Electric Vehicle Engineering for Working Professionals. It is the first fully Industry sponsored Post graduate programme on Electrical Vehicle Technology in the country. The course is designed to have both theoretical and practical expertise on EV product development. Every subject in the program will have an industry case study and a subsequent project at industry. The course has advanced subjects in vehicle system engineering, energy storage, charging systems in addition to powertrain, power electronics and electric machine. Additional focus is also given to digital engineering for electric vehicles like data science, artificial intelligence, IoT, etc.

BGSW is sponsoring part of the seats every year for their employees for this program. Rest of the seats will be offered to the other industries, organizations and students under self-financing category. Additionally, BOSCH will also volunteer industry sessions of the program. The agreement was signed on 18th November 2022 between Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NITC, and Sri. R K Shenoy, Member of the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Vice President at Mobility Engineering, BGSW. The event also saw presentations from BOSCH leadership Mr. Yusuf Osman (Vice President of Engineering, Electric Vehicles), Mr. Mohan Bellur (Head of Learning and Development, HR), Mr. Sajit C.P (Head of Engineering, Electric Vehicles), Mr. Prasanth Pathiyil (Head of CoE, electrification) and from NITC Prof. Sathi Devi, Dy. Director, Prof. Ashok S (Senior Professor of Electrical Engg), Prof. Jose Mathew, Chairman, Centre for Industry Institute Relations, Dr. Preetha P, Head of the Electrical Engg Dept, Dr. Kumaravel S., Coordinator of EV M.Tech programme and Dr Karthikeyan V Assistant Professor from the department.

During the occasion, Director Prof. Prasad Krishna told that “development and training on Electric Vehicle Engineering is the need of the hour. EV is viable solution for the pollution, shortage of fossil fuel and economic security. This BOSCH sponsored M Tech programme is one of the milestone event for NIT Calicut which celebrated its diamond jubilee in 2022. NIT Calicut will offer this programme to the working professionals from all the industries in India and across the world”.

 Sri. Shenoy from BOSCH commented – “As we turn a new page in Industry-Academia collaboration, it allows us to reimagine a more sustainable future in mobility. A sustainable future is one based in learning and going forward, we will continue our strive towards innovating newage technologies in the mobility space. We are very excited as these courses empower our Engineers to explore newer horizons.”

 Sri. Yusuf from BOSCH commented – "We are very proud to establish this Electrification Masters’ program with NITC. This will help fuel our future innovations and help us reinvent the automotive space. This collaboration opens doors for great opportunities, and we are looking forward to its successful launch.”

NIT Calicut will admit the students for this M Tech programme from the coming academic year.
